Femme Fatales is a poetic trio, blending narrative and contemporary dance to bring to light the impact of gender socialization. The work takes a thought provoking look at our historical past of gender defined roles and behaviors to illuminate the impact on today. Full of both pleasure and angst, this work dives into the heart of what makes us who we are.
(Note: Title spelling is intentional to highlight the absurd idea that one woman could be the fatality of all humanity.)
Meredith Kalaman was awarded the 2017 Chrystal Dance Prize to take Femme Fatales to Berlin in August 2017 and continue collaborating with International Artist Gabi Beier, a partnership that began as a result of Meredith receiving the 2015 Chrystal Dance Prize.
